COMPANY FACT SHEET

About Stageit

Stageit is an online video platform allowing artists to stream and monetize concert-like live performances while interacting with their fans in real time. Launched at SXSW in March 2011, Stageit has rapidly grown to become a widespread new revenue-generating platform for artists who can’t afford to tour, those who are between tours as well as those looking to complement and activate other promotional and networking tools.

Founded by CEO and music industry veteran Evan Lowenstein, Stageit is a cross between a meet and greet and a real-life concert experience. Not only does Stageit enable artists to easily create paid live shows directly from their laptop, but it also removes the barriers involved with touring in multiple cities by allowing fans to watch from wherever they are. The online performances streamed on Stageit are not archived, so it remains a truly unique experience for the virtual attendees.

Stageit was named as one of the world’s Top 10 most innovative companies in music by Fast Company and appeared on Billboard.biz Bulletin’s list of the 10 most interesting startups of 2012. The company took first place in the startup competition at midem 2013, receiving the midemlab award in direct to consumer sales & content monetization.

How artists make money

Artists choose when to perform and how much they want to charge. Fans can buy tickets to their favorite artists‘ live performances and further support them via a virtual Tip Jar during shows. As an artist advocate, Stageit prides itself on being exceptionally transparent about where the money goes. Payment is based on a sliding scale that increases the share of the gross revenues artists can make based on their earnings, beginning at 63% and ranging up to 83%.

 Who is on Stageit

The wide variety of artists who have used Stageit thus far include Jimmy Buffett, Rick Springfield, Jason Mraz, Sara Bareilles, Trey Songz, Kris Allen, KORN, Bonnie Raitt, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Matt Nathanson, YouTube sensation Pomplamoose, Kina Grannis, Indigo Girls, Plain White T’s, Lisa Loeb, Jake Owen, and Stryper.
